Christmas foods from different countries


 







Many families keep the custom of gathering the whole family for Christmas dinner. In this video I am going to show you some typical foods from different countries to surprise your relatives at Christmas dinner.

Coquilles Saint Jacques, France


This typical French dish enchants its tasters for its great flavor and size. Its main ingredient is scallops, but it also has several other ingredients such as mushrooms and white wine.

Fish soup, Czech Republic


This soup is made with the meat and head of the carp, vegetables and spices.

Bigos, Poland


This typical Polish dish is made of sauerkraut, plums, mushrooms and various types of fresh meat. It is also commonly consumed in Belarus, Lithuania and Ukraine.

Piftie, Romania


This salty jelly is prepared from the bones and meat of the pig, a lot of garlic is also added to it.

Christmas Apple Grape Salad, Mexico


In addition to apples and grapes, you can also add grated carrots, strawberries, cherries, peaches, and orange.

Niños envueltos or Children wrapped in English, Argentina


In this dish, the chard or cabbage leaf wraps a mixture of rice and meat. There are also other versions with different ingredients. Although it is a very common dish in Argentina, it originates from Ukraine and is called Ukrainian holupchi there. This name is due to the similarity of the dish to children wrapped in blankets with their arms inside.

Pozole, Mexico


This typical Mexican broth is usually made of corn, vegetables, meat and spices, but there are several versions of this dish with different combinations of ingredients.


Tourtière, Canada


In the French part of Canada, this meatloaf is eaten with cubed pork or beef.

Verivorst, Estonia


This dish consists of a meatless blood sausage that is made of rice and coagulated blood. It is often consumed accompanied by a wild fruit jelly.

Yellow rice, South Africa


Since this rice has cinnamon and raisins, it has a sweet taste. It usually accompanies chicken, meat or fish. Its yellow color is due to ground turmeric.

Mushroom soup with Zaprashka, Russia


Among other ingredients, this soup usually has mushrooms, onion and garlic.
