CURIOSITIES ABOUT TIM BURTON

In this video we will review some curiosities about the filmmaker Timothy Walter Burton. Born in California on August 25, 1958, Burton is a great film director, writer, producer, and cartoonist.

As a child he already liked dark jokes and black humor. He once staged a murder to scare his neighbors who ended up calling the police. He loved to simulate bloody crimes with his brother. He also scared the other kids in the neighborhood by making up stories about alleged alien invasions.

A very curious coincidence is that the cartoonist Charles Addams when writing the Addams family described Wednesday and Pericles as children who liked to play murder and macabre things just like Burton and his brother.

Tim Burton claimed to be a big fan of this saga and his love for it shows in all the dedication and details of his new series Wednesday. The films of this director usually have a dark theme with a gothic influence. His characters are often depicted as very thin, shy people with long features and very pale skin.

He was married to Helena Bonham Carter and the actress claimed that the filmmaker snores so much that they had to sleep in separate rooms. Burton has a mild level of autism and Helena also said that he transfers his peculiar way of seeing the world to his work. The friendship between Tim Burton and Johnny Depp goes beyond the work environment, in fact Depp is godfather to one of Burton's sons, Billy Ray Burton.

Many years ago Tim Burton was fired from Disney, because the company did not like the designs of Frankenweenie and Vincent, they believed that it would scare children. Luckily for us, the company reconsidered the idea and we can currently enjoy these works.

The director's first short was made when he was just 13 years old and was produced with the help of some of his colleagues. The name of this short film is The Island of Doctor Agor and Burton apart from writing and directing, he also played the main character. He acted in three more films by other directors: Hoffa (1993), Men in Black 3 (2012) and Singles (1992).

The characters Jack Skellington and Edward Scissorhands are based on drawings that Tim Burton did when he was little. As a child his favorite place to play was the cemetery. The director stated that the best performance in his entire filmography was the interpretation of Selina Kyla by actress Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman.

When shooting the Batman Returns movie, the director sought absolute secrecy about everything related to the film. For that, he was in charge of creating a fictitious name temporarily for the movie "Dictel" and only the employees who had this name on his badge could enter. Even with all the care on the part of everyone involved in the film, images of the actor Danny DeVito characterized by his character the Penguin were leaked, to which Warner Bros even hired a private investigator to find out the case.

His character Tim Roth from the movie Planet of the Apes was created based on his fear of chimpanzees. He is obsessed with clowns and that is why you can find several references to them in his works.

Although he does not like to waste time choosing clothing combinations, he usually dresses in black. In addition to films and short films, Tim Burton's career also includes directing two video clips (Bones and Here With Me) for the musical group The Killers.

Tim Burton was commissioned to design an “Alice in Wonderland”-themed room for the President of the United States, Barack Obama. This room gave rise to the 2009 Halloween party at the White House, to which Johnny Depp was dressed as the Mad Hatter at the request of his great friend Tim Burton.

The director stated that he is afraid of shellfish and that this fear arose when he was a child after having seen the movie "Attack of the Giant Crabs" from 1957. Due to this phobia, food often plays a dark role in his creations.

During the filming of "Sleepy Hollow" the team had a big problem: Christopher Walken couldn't ride a horse. The solution to shooting all the scenes on horseback that the Headless Horseman had was to use a mechanical horse. The filmmaker's favorite movies are: Dracula 73, Sinbad's Fantastic Journey, The Last Man Alive, The War of the Gargantuas and The Wicker Man.

Some of his best productions are: Big Fish, Wednesday, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, BeetleJuice, Batman, Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd: The Devil Barber of Fleet Street, Big Eyes, Batman Returns and Alice in Wonderland.

Burton stated in an interview with Canal Arte 1 that he likes the listra pattern, because it gives him a feeling of being connected to the world.
